One of the greatest challenges the Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee faces each year is creating a safe event that is fun and family-friendly. In 2005, we added a new feature to the parade - we barricaded the entire one-mile route. This cost was and is considerable, so we began the Adopt-a-Barricade Campaign. Through this program each member of the community can help contribute to the success of the parade!
For a donation of $100 to “adopt a barricade”, individuals, families, and businesses alike can participate in the unique opportunity to display their St. Patrick's Day messages and advertisements. The messages are printed on durable vinyl 18” x 48” banners that are hung on the barricades along the parade route for thousands of people to see. After the parade, a “barricade sponsor” may decide to renew for the future parade or pick up their banner(s).
For several years now, the Adopt-a-Barricade program has been a great success and the parades have only gotten better! Whether you missed your chance in the last few years or want to create a whole new message for 2008, we are now taking orders for 2008 banners. Advertise your business, say hello to friends, remember departed family - any message you want to convey to a large crowd. This is your chance to help the Parade continue to be a great Kansas City tradition!
